***PSYCHIATRIST – INPATIENT****
OREGON
20 hours per week on-site ( 2.5 days per week – possible full time if wanted!!! )
8:00am to 4:30pm – open on days
$150.00 – $180.00 per hour
Assess and treat patients who suffer from psychiatric illness and participate in enhancing psychiatric care delivery in a multidisciplinary, 12-step based treatment environment. Educate staff on best
practices in the management of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Propose, develop,
and implement best practices in psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director. Propose, develop, and implement improvements in the process of psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director. Work collaboratively with other physicians and staff to ensure the best possible psychiatric treatment for our patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1.Assess and diagnose mental disorders in individuals referred in order to treat specified mental
disorders and provide consultation services to professional staff.
A. Conduct assessment interviews based on referral questions and input from referring mental
health professionals.
B. Formulate clinical reports that include specific categories and content regarding: history of current
illness, psychiatric history, family background, medical history, social status, mental status exam,
multi-axial diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations.
C. Reassess presenting and treatment-emergent symptoms and progress
D. Generate diagnoses based on the most recently available DSM criteria.
E. Work collaboratively with biomedical staff in the management of acute and chronic medical illnesses and substance withdrawal.
F. Use best practices to differentiate mental disorders from biomedical conditions and complications
that present psychological symptoms.
G. Provide input regarding treatment alternatives and recommendations for continuing care.
H. Prescribe psychiatric hospitalizations for individuals deemed to be at imminent risk for harm to
self or others, acutely psychotic, extremely agitated, and/or manic.
I. Provide on-call phone coverage.
J. Where possible, use intoxicant-free approaches to illness management. Adhere to our policies regarding the prescribing of intoxicants to addicted individuals.
2.Provide psychiatric medical expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders to
ensure that biological aspects of mental disorder are addressed.
A. Prescribe psychopharmacological treatment as indicated for specified mental disorders.
B. Prescribe within formulary guidelines, and adhere to our policy when that is not indicated.
C. Minimize or resolve psychopharmacologic complications via systematic assessment and reassessment of medication response based on the patient’s self-report, input from other disciplines,
and objective data.
D. Adhere to our clinical guidelines and practices regarding medication prescribing practice in
the treatment of mental disorders.
Minimum/Essential Qualifications
Minimum education, training, licensure, experience, etc.
Doctorate (MD)
Current license to practice medicine in appropriate state
Board certified, certified in addiction medicine or board eligible in a medical specialty. If board eligible,
must be board certified or certified in addiction medicine prior to the re-credentialing in two years.
Addiction related medical practice or equivalent/related experience
Minimum of 2 years freedom from chemical use problems (CA only)
DEA Certificate
DEA DATA waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (within 30 days of hire)
Current and active CPR Card
Preferred Qualifications
Additional education, training, licensure, experience, etc.
Prior CD/Detox experience; 1 yr. experience in acute care setting
Minimum 2 yrs. experience in addiction medicine practice
Board certification in ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine)
