Position Summary:
Responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients in a residential treatment facility, ensuring their well-being, comfort, and safety in an underserved community in Northern Arizona, spending 3 months on the Navajo Nation.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of new admissions to document and promote continuity of care within regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform health screenings for children residing with clients in the residential treatment facility.
  • Conduct and document medical assessments including vital signs, TB testing, urine specimen collection, etc.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and appropriate care for patients, evaluating processes for effectiveness.
  • Oversee client self-medication procedures and provide staff training as needed.
  • Modify care plans to address patients’ physical and emotional needs during times of distress.
  • Observe, monitor, and accurately document changes in patients’ conditions in a timely manner.

Educational/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of Arizona
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray certification
  • At least one year of prior professional nursing experience, with preference given to experience in a substance abuse treatment facility
  • Current Fingerprint Clearance card
  • First Aid and CPR certification

Skills Requirements:

  • Proficiency in medical protocols, including biohazard protocols, and interventions to assist patients with chronic medical conditions safely and accurately.
  • Understanding of psychopharmacology and medication management, particularly with adult and/or substance abuse populations.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques, crisis intervention, and interventions common to patients with addictive diseases.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making regarding patient care, especially in situations of physical or emotional distress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
