Habilitation Technician (Hab Tech) – $19/hour
Phoenix, AZ
TThis position requires an individual to coach, teach, mentor and provide direct support to members who have Developmental Disabilities (i.e., autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability or epilepsy) ranging from mild to profound. The majority of services are designed to meet personal needs of members in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and group home settings. This position performs a variety of activities: *Provide activities and programming that encourage development of new skills and maintaining present skills. *Works with members to teach or assist them in activities of daily living skills (bathing, toileting, dressing, meal time/eating, attending day/work programs, etc.). *Performs some housekeeping duties (e.g., dusting, clothes washing, dishes, mopping, disinfecting therapy equipment and wheelchairs). *Prepares, cooks, sets up, and serves meals, as needed. *Supports mealtime techniques and service in accordance with specialized diets. *Implements the member’s Individual support plans for the members. *Provides basic health care (e.g., medication administration). *Encourages and involves members in recreational activities at home and in the community. Flexibility in schedule (i.e., work different shifts, overtime and change work locations) as these are 24-hour residential settings. Most schedules work nights, weekends and holidays. Requires lifting/carrying at least 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling at least 50 lbs.
Skill Required:
- Cleaning and basic housekeeping Human rights Providing personal care Planning processes Basic cooking. Knowledge of food preparation and food handling safety Using a computer, including email Planning activities designed to meet specific needs of individual members Communicating with members verbally and/or through sign language Time and work management Advocating for members Participating in and implementing Individual Support Plans Read and write in English Understand and follow spoken and written directions Display compassion with respect to others Attend staff training and apply the basic principles of program training and data collection designed to meet the specific needs of members including medication administration Learn and use computer systems (e.g., timesheet entry, computer based trainings) Learn and apply basic physical, occupational and speech therapy techniques
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Ability to be flexible in scheduling (you’ll be working in 24-hour residential settings)
- 1 year experience providing direct care services to members of DDD prior to starting.
- Be able to push/pull and lift/carry at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass a 7 year background check.
- Must have a valid driver license. In-state travel is required.
- Must have a valid Level One Fingerprint clearance card.
- CPI Card or Prevention and Support Equivalent, preferred not required
