APN Staffing is now hiring for Certified Peer Recovery Specialists for our client in Cranston, RI. Full-time & part-time hours available, weekly hours are 35 schedule is (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) or part-time hours are (15-20). These are long-term projects for one year after start date and may be extended. Hourly rate of pay is $25.00 an hour. Positions are contract and are not permanent positions with the State of Rhode Island.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and maintain a peer relationship with patients based upon mutuality rather than a hierarchical relationship
Provide face to face interaction with patients in a hospital setting by using a variety of techniques to provide support in achieving their person-centered recovery, wellness, independence, and personal strength
Serve as a role model and mentor for patients in recovery
Teach patients self-advocacy skills and provide coaching to support them in becoming effective self-advocates
Promote patient wellness by assisting patients in improving their overall well being
Provide social & emotional support to patients
Assist patient with developing a person-centered wellness and recovery plan with defined goals and timeliness for achievement
Educate hospital staff on the role of a CPRS and how to utilize them appropriately
Educate hospital patients about peer-based recovery support services available to them during their time in the hospital
Connecting patients with community resources in preparation for discharge
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A working knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Peer Recovery including but not limited to: role of peer support in recovery; aspects of recovery; guiding principles of recovery; how a recovery orientation differs from a treatment orientation; peer recovery support, goals of peer recovery support; roles and types of support offered by peer recovery specialists; limits of peer recovery specialist role; relationship building and communication skills for peer recovery specialists; cultural competence and the connection between culture and recovery; boundaries and ethical issues for peer recovery specialists; confidentiality; self-care of peer recovery specialists; knowledge of the process of behavior change; trauma informed care in supporting recovery; community resources and supports; facilitation of peer recovery groups; knowledge of co-occurring disorders; and substance use prevention planning.
EDUCATION: Possession of active Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) by the RI Certification Board is required
Possession of Associates degree in social work or human services preferred
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years of continuous work experience as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
